Artifact: Current Reality Report/SWOT Analysis - ITEC 7410
Reflection:
The artifact that best represents standard 1.2 is the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis that was completed for ITEC 7410. The SWOT analysis is used to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats internally and externally of a school that could affect implementation of the school’s technology-infused strategic plan.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of standard 1.2 because the SWOT analysis assist school leaders in taking a deeper look at the school’s strategic plans to ensure technology integration throughout the school. By identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats internally and externally, the school can develop a detailed plan of action that is essential for guiding school leader to achieving school-wide goals.
Prior to completing this artifact, I knew very little about my school’s strategic plans or how the two encourage technology implementation. As a result of completing this activity, I am better prepared to analyze strategic plans to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that can be used to support or hinder technology integration in classrooms. As a technology leader, it is important that I know how to design, develop, implement, and evaluate technology-infused strategic plans. I must also be able to conduct a SWOT analysis to research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, programs, and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared vision. All of these are important to lead new initiatives and sustain technology innovations in my school. By completing this activity, I am more knowledgeable and confident in analyzing strategic plans and make recommendations to strengthen technology integration.
The SWOT analysis can directly impact school improvement and faculty development. As a result of completing the SWOT, I plan on sharing my findings with my principal and assistant principal. Hopefully this information can be used to plan initiative and strategies that can be used to strengthen my school’s improvement and technology plans. The impact of the SWOT analysis will be assess by school administrators and the school leadership team. This will be a helpful tool to refer to while updating the school improvement and technology plans for 2014-2015 school year.
