Final Reflection for ITEC 7305 - Data Analysis & School Improvement
The most valuable field experience I completed in the course is the Data Overview. This inventory helped me to take a deeper look at my school's data and identify the strengths and weaknesses that need to noted. By identifying the areas of strengths and weaknesses, the school leadership team, administrators, and teachers are able to make informed decisions on how to adjust the curriculum to guarantee success for all students. I plan to share the results from my Data Overview with my school administrators and leadership team when school begins in the fall. I hope they will find the information valuable and useful in making decisions for the 2014-2015 school year.
The skills I have learned this semester has better prepared me to be a data coach and technology leader in my school. As a member of the school’s leadership team, we are often asked to analyze data. Analyzing data is a challenging task because it is not the most interesting topic and can sometime be overwhelming. I hope that by organizing data teams to analyze data that is directly related to the subject teachers teach, they will be more involved and eager to participate in dialogue. After taking this class, I am better prepared to analyze the data more effectively to make more accurate observations and inferences. This will also better prepare me to lead data team meetings and establish data teams in my school to make appropriate changes that will impact student achievement in a positive way.
